  • Check at the travel center or backcountry center for water standing. The upper portion of the trail. It may be extremely icy in winter or early spring in the South Kaibab trail.

  • Before starting your trails book a campsite up top at the Bright Angel Lodge/backcountry information center before you begin your Grand Canyon hikes. The backcountry infrastructure is an undeveloped area of the Grand Canyon is but also located on the south rim.
  • Make sure you keep the more than required amount of food and water.
  • Do not throw stones from the top because it might hurt other visitors downside.
  • Keep in mind that reaching the river in a single day is not possible. If you want to go all the way down, you’ll have to break the journey into two days, and book your room in Bright Angel Lodge.
