Creativity, art, inspiration, sustainability, humor… these have been just some of the identifying traits of Smoking Paper since the brand was founded in 1924! This year Smoking Paper is celebrating its centenary year and has been showing off its creativity all over social media so that its followers can take part in Smoking Paper’s Centenary Competition.
This international initiative aims to “recognize work, creativity, and artistic vision”.

Smoking’s Centenary Year Initiatives
Adapted to the digital era we all live in; the competition will be held all over the most popular social media platforms. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok are the platforms of choice so that followers can share their own creations along with the hashtag #Smoking100years. This competition has no borders and one of its core values is internationality. The creations can be shared over all of the company’s social media pages, whether in Spain or any other country.
This centenary competition from Smoking Paper encourages the brand’s followers to take part in different creative disciplines. These include visual arts (painting, sculpture, graphic design, illustration, 3D creations, videography), crafts (embroidery, crochet, ceramics, creations made from paper, metal or recycled materials, jewelry design, stitchwork, furniture, soaps, household products, patisserie, or other recipes), fiction or non-fiction literature, music, or even marketing creations. The most important thing is to be creative and expressive!
The company will give out prizes to 156 people, based on their originality and creativity, with 106 Domestika gift cards and 50 Crehana gift cards. 13 winners will be selected each month, based on the decision of a panel made up of the company’s marketing executives and creative influencers. For example, the Argentinean illustrator Lía Copello (@lacopecope on social media) is taking part, known for her ironic and humorous cartoons.
Special centenary edition Smoking Paper rolling paper booklets
You don’t turn 100 years old every day! So, why not do something to make sure it is remembered forever? Like the Smoking Creators special collection. This is a special edition of the Smoking Brown King Size papers, put together by the hundreds of creatives from around the world who took part in this competition. Of all those put forward, 16 unique creations were selected to be produced and sold all over the world.
The company has also refreshed some of its most well-known rolling paper booklets. In total more than 24 models have been redesigned, using the favorite from each country as a reference. This has led to Brown Edition, Deluxe Edition, Blue Edition, Red Edition and Green Edition all being available in stores in a specially redesigned format that shows off the company’s fresh and young image while also paying homage to its 100 years of history in the market.
The company’s environmental commitment
Smoking Paper’s centenary year is not just about its support for creativity and innovation. Its respect for the environment has always been one of its key identifying values and had to be included in the centenary celebrations.
Smoking has driven multiple initiatives to promote the importance of sustainability among its followers. One of those was Roll with Green, in collaboration with Trees for the Future, which has led to 200,100 trees being planted as part of the battle against deforestation. Participation in this program is still open and it is as simple as posting on social media using the hashtag #Rollwithgreen, a tree will then be planted in the user’s name.
In fact, Miquel & Costas (owner of the Smoking Paper brand), has been officially recognized for its environmental respect and care with the highest possible “A” rating in CDP Water Security, CDP Forest, and CDP Climate Change. Only 12 companies in the world have this triple rating which acknowledges their environmental leadership in the fields of climate change, deforestation, and water security. This reinforces Miquel & Costas’ and Smoking’s commitment to sustainability and the environment.
