1. THCP: What Is It Made Of?
THCP, or Delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol, was discovered by Italian scientists in 2019. Previously unknown cannabinoids have been revealed by modern technology.
THC-P is an analog of THC and has a similar arrangement to its molecule. It has the most extended carbon chains of all cannabinoids. This molecule is potent because of its length of a 7-carbon chain.
THCP is often referred to as an agrestal cannabinoid due to its high levels of elements found in cannabis plants. It is made of cannabigerol acid in cannabis plants. THCP is also known as the “mother cannabinoid.”
THCP can be extracted from industrial hemp with 0.3% Delta-9 THC. To separate THCP and other cannabis products, you need to grow a lot of hemp. When making products, THCP resellers will use other cannabinoids. THCP is expensive by itself.
2. How Cannabis Plants Make THCP?
There are many phytocannabinoids, but they all share a standard structure. They all start with the same cannabigerol acid (CBGA) molecule. CBGA, also known as “the mother cannabinoid,” is formed by complex interactions of olivetolic and geranyl pyrophosphate.
In addition to THCA and CBDA, phytocannabinoids are produced by other enzymes. Cannabinoids are only found in raw cannabis since it is acidic.
When cannabis is heated, it undergoes decarboxylation. This process converts THCA and CBDA to THC, CBDA, and CBDA, respectively. THCPA can be produced in the same manner as other phytocannabinoids. When heated, it becomes THCP.
The levels of THCP in cannabis plants are lower than those in other cannabinoids. The FM2 strain has the highest levels of THCP. Producers of THCP products must ensure that they are tested in a laboratory.
Legally, it is made from hemp with less than 0.3% delta-9-THC. The starting ingredient for the production of THCP is CBD. It means that hemp can still be grown and produced under controlled conditions.
3. What Are the Effects of THC-P?
THCP may exhibit cannabimimetic properties similar to Delta-9 THC. Inducing relaxation, pain relief, and lowering body temperature, THCP may be similar to Delta-9-THC. There is also a possibility that THCP can bring about mild psychedelic effects, including altered perception, cognitive function, and decision-making.
Combining terpenes and cannabinoids with THCP may also positively affect mood and energy or produce a more relaxing or sleepy effect.
THCP is more able to bind than Delta-9 THC with the CB1 receptor, CB2 receptors, and CB1 receptors. CB1 receptors have a solid critical activity for THCP, which is responsible for THC’s psychoactive effects.
Although THCP is 33 times more potent than regular THC in potency, most users don’t feel that much. Some users think THCP is three to five times stronger than regular Delta-9 THC.
THCP could partly explain some of the cannabis cultivars’ high levels of psychoactivity. The Delta-9 THC content largely determines the psychoactivity of cannabis cultivars. Researchers suggest that other cannabinoids like THCP could play a part in this phenomenon.
