On the 11th of May, 2023, Elon Musk tweeted that he had found a new CEO for Twitter but without mentioning the name of the person.
Elon Musk also reportedly stated that he will be taking on the position of the chief technology officer of the social media platforms instead of being CEO, and this transition will happen within the next couple of weeks. He quoted,
“Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!
My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.”
It is to be noted that in the past, Elon Musk never provided details of anyone for the post of CEO. Thus, this tweet has left everyone guessing.”
Assumptions are being made that former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, former Yahoo Chief Executive Director Marissa Mayer, and a top administrator at Mr. Musk’s brain-chip startup Neuralink, Shivon Zilis, could potentially be the new CEO of Twitter.
How Musk Has Acquired Twitter?
Elon Musk became the Chief Executive director of Twitter after acquiring it for the amount of 44 billion dollars. He also said in the past that he would give up on the position of CEO once he found someone suitable for the job, so it’s no surprise since he has spoken about this earlier as well.
Not only was he vocal about stepping down from the position of chief executive director, but he also organized a Twitter poll in December 2022 in which more than half of the respondents voted for him to step down from the position of chief executive director.
Well, Musk did not ruin any time as the CEO of Twitter and put in force his vision.
Not more than two weeks after becoming the CEO of Twitter, he made some very important changes, such as the removal of Parag Agrawal from the post of CEO and some other important people as well.
Not to mention the 50 percent termination of the staff in November 2022.
Mr. Elon Musk always argued in favor of free speech and undoubtedly was a firm supporter of free speech; thus, he used this support as a reason to buy Twitter.
Mr. Musk added further that he does not want Twitter to turn into a place for hate speech to breed and spread everywhere.
On top of that, he also pledged to fight the spam bot accounts, which is an important issue since it even collided with Twitter’s board while Elon Musk was trying to acquire Twitter.
Final Words
Finally, Mr. Elon Musk is all set to step down from the position of CEO, and he is also done with his search for a suitable replacement; the future of Twitter will depend on that person.
On the other hand, Twitter users are reacting to this whole situation and welcoming the new chief executive director with memes.
Some users are even taking this news to troll or roast Elon Musk. Well, in this case, Mr. Elon Musk is true to his words since he promised to follow the poll result no matter what the result may be, and he seems to be doing so.
