In a recent Tweet on 13th May 2023, Vice President Kamala Harris stated that in this mental health awareness month, she will be elevating the health hotline of the Health Resources and Services Administration, which is free of cost, private, and available 24/7.
The U.S Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), as well as the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), is observing the very first anniversary of the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline and those who don’t know, the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline was started in the year 2022 on the occasion of Mother’s Day to provide moral and psychological support and assistance to thousands of pregnant women.
It is of major importance that since its launch, the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline and the good part is that they provide this assistance in more than 60 languages, so no more language barrier to seeking free psychological assistance.
In the Vice President’s tweet, it is also mentioned that there will be an updated helpline number 1-833-TLC-MAMA 18338526262. Meanwhile, the previous hotline number will continue to function for one more year.
It is crystal clear that the Biden-Harris administration is keen on working for maternal health and mental health, not to mention the fact that they are also strongly against the Republican Party’s stand on banning abortion.
1. The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline
The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline is available for you 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It is a free health hotline number and keeps its user’s information private.

On top of that, The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline also provides its users with doctors, nurses, childbirth pedagogues, and verified peer support experts.
2. Achievements of the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline
It’s not been a long time, but The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline received more than 10 thousand calls and texts, though text messages were relatively lower in number than calls.
It’s to be noted that a larger number of people were calling to seek help for themselves while some also called on other people’s part.
The usual speed at which these calls were answered by The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline is 23-30 seconds.
Now, after launching this new hotline number, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is trying to make people aware of this new hotline number: 1-833-TLC-MAMA.
Soon-to-be mothers and parents can reach out to 1-833-TLC-MAMA to resolve all of their mental health problems, such as anxiety, stress disorder, or depression; the solution is just a call away, so why suffer from such things?
3. Things to Keep in Mind
If someone is in a condition of self-harm or harming someone else, then the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline is not the emergency response body; in such a case, immediately call 911.
Also, if someone suffers from serious mental illness, they need to contact the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline 988.
