Marist College is a global university and a leading liberal arts college situated in Poughkeepsie, New York. Being a private educational institution, this is also one of the most widely regarded art schools in the heart of New York, United States. It was founded in 1905 and formed by the Marist brothers, which was a Catholic religious institute that prepared brothers to be future educators.
Marist Brothers was founded in 1816 by Saint Marcellin Champagnat in France and focused on providing educational assistance throughout the world. The college has a branch campus in Florence, Italy.

The Marist College became a secular institution in the year 2003. At present, it offers a wide array of programs for undergraduates and graduate students in various arts and sciences disciplines. 4. About the Marist Campus
The college is in the town of Poughkeepsie in New York, United States. It is situated on the east bank of the Hudson River and has an area of approximately 180 acres. The part of the main campus situated to the east of US 9 is known as the east campus. Other than the main campus, Marist also owns Payne Estate, Marist Executive Centre, and a branch campus of Marist College, Lorenzo de’ Medici School, in Florence, Italy. This makes the overall campus size about 242 acres.
The Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute, also known as the Ldm, became a branch campus of Marist College in 2006. This branch campus consists of 10 buildings and is situated in the district of San Lorenzo in Florence. The main building, situated in Via Faenza, dates back to the 13th century and was originally a convent attached to a medieval church. There are various campus facilities, including studio space, lecture classrooms, and design workshops.

Marist College offers standard dormitories for all freshman students. Townhouse and apartment facilities are available as well. There is no absolute SAT score requirement,
but having at least 1150 gives you the chance to be considered. The average GPA required is 3.3. In case your GPA is of minimum requirement or lower, you need higher SAT scores to compensate for it.

8. Scholarships Offered by Marist College
Marist College offers several scholarships:
8.1. Merit Scholarships
Merit scholarships awarded by Marist College range from $10,000 to $25,000 a year and are given to the most academically competitive candidates. The students need to demonstrate excellent academic performance throughout their entire high school career. All scholarships are renewable for 4 years,
given that the students meet the necessary GPA requirements.
8.2. Alumni Scholarships
Effective in 2021, children of alumni who enrol at Marist College full-time are entitled to a scholarship worth $5,000 per year for up to 4 years of their undergraduate experience at Marist.

8.3. Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarships – Transfer Students
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) scholarships are offered to transfer students who are members of the official honour society at their local community college for $5,000.
All Phi Theta Kappa scholarship recipients are required to maintain a cumulative grade point- average of 2.85 (B-) as full-time students (12 or more credits per semester) to be eligible for award renewal every semester.
8.4. Fusco Music Scholarship
Marist College offers a music program that is centred around music literacy, musicianship, individual creativity, and engaged citizenship. The Music Programme encourages candidates to express their passion for music and creates opportunities for those in need. An amount of $2,500.00 is available, depending on one’s talent and technical merit.

8.5. Theatre Scholarship
Theatre scholarships are available for incoming students. An amount of $2,000.00 is available for a scholarship, and the awards are renewable.
8.6. The Brother James Kearney Scholarship for the Blind
Formerly known as the Lavelle Fund College Scholarship Program, The Brother James Kearney Scholarship
aims to provide quality undergraduate and graduate programs for U.S. residents who are blind and in financial need. They should be attending any of the 11 selected private colleges in New York State and Northeastern New Jersey to be eligible for this scholarship.
8.7. Dollars for Scholars
The Dollars for Scholars Program is conducted by the Citizens Scholarship Foundation of America (CSFA). The amount will match up to $500 per recipient. Community volunteers raise the awards, and the college has contributed a maximum amount of $10,000 to matching scholarships. Once the funds are exhausted, Marist College is unable to cater to further requests.
8.8. Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History (GLI) Scholarship for Incoming Freshman History Majors
This newly established scholarship at Marist College is awarded to students excelling in the study of history. They need to show exceptional performance in the subject of history in GLI’s vast national network of affiliated schools. The effective collaboration of Marist College with GLI enables all history majors to be eligible for the scholarship.

8.9. The Otto Sussman Trust Scholarship
The Otto Sussman Trust scholarship offers financial assistance to eligible undergraduate students who need financial help to complete their degrees. It is awarded in the final year of their study and has certain criteria for eligibility. Candidates should be residents of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Oklahoma. They are also required to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or more.
8.10. The Jonah and Joan Sherman Scholarship for Volunteer Outreach
This scholarship was founded in 2010 by Bruce Sherman and Amy Sherman. The purpose of the Jonah and Joan Sherman Scholarship for Volunteer Outreach is to promote effective volunteering by recognizing as well as financially aiding the Marist students who follow in the footsteps of Jonah and Joan Sherman.
The scholarship is open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are engaged in or are leading volunteering activities. Community services can be provided locally, nationally, as well as internationally. Good academic standing is also required. The students are required to have certain traits, which include
Leadership qualities, Volunteer activity, Social conscience, Self-direction, and Entrepreneurial spirit to be eligible for the Sherman scholarship.

8.11. Marist Brothers High School Scholarship
This is a $5,000 scholarship, offered to students who graduate from Marist Brothers high schools in the U.S. and abroad. This scholarship has been effective since the fall of 2018. Students are required to attend full-time (at least 12 credits per semester) and remain in good academic standing to be eligible for the renewable scholarship.
