Raising Canes sauce is now open in many locations all over the United States, most of them located in Texas. This place is also famous for its Texas toast.

They are known for their delicious crispy chicken tenders and what is also known as the number one craveable sauce!

If you’ve been to Raising Cane’s and have tried their chicken tenders and sauce, you’re probably nodding in agreement as you’re reading this because we all know that we can’t get enough of it.

2. What Does Raising Cane’s Sauce Taste Like?

Cane sauce has a tangy taste with a hint of peppery notes, a little kick of spice, and a bit of acid. This makes it a perfect dipping sauce for fried chicken tenders, burgers, and French fries.

Many teenagers have been going through an entire cup of dipping sauce for every chicken strip. I mean, who’s to blame them? They are just giving Cane’s sauce the attention it deserves. Be aware of copycat cane sauce in the market too.

3. Make Cane’s Sauce at Home

Raising Cane’s sauce recipe is a secret that we all want to know, but until they reveal it, we’re all just going to keep guessing.

Although we love visiting Raising Cane’s restaurant and dipping crispy homemade chicken tenders into their sauce, if you live somewhere where they do not have their outlet and you have been wondering, you’re in luck because we have just the recipe for making homemade Raising Cane’s sauce.

Many have tried to copycat Raising Cane’s sauce and have come up with a copycat version that comes pretty close to the original. So, without further ado, let’s look into the recipe for making Cane’s sauce.

3.1 Ingredients For The Homemade Sauce:

Make sure you get all the listed ingredients ready before you sit to make cane sauce. You will get all of these ingredients from the grocery store. However, you can also have ingredients in another recipe card.

  • Mayonnaise
  • Ketchup
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Garlic powder
  • Black pepper
  • Salt
3.1.1. Mayonnaise

This is what forms the base of the entire sauce and gives it a thick and creamy texture. You can use any brand of mayonnaise, and it would still taste good, but if you want suggestions, then Duke’s is a good option as it tends to have a little more acid.

Hellman’s mayonnaise also tastes just as good, so pick any at your convenience.

In addition to that, you can also try out homemade mayonnaise recipes if you want to make top-notch Cane sauce because homemade mayo has much more flavor than what you can get in store-bought mayo.

3.1.2. Ketchup

Heinz ketchup does a pretty good job of the recipe. A good thing about this recipe is that it is not picky with your ingredients. So, you can use any brand of ketchup.

The ketchup adds an orange color to the sauce.

3.1.3. Worcestershire Sauce

Worcestershire sauce is the reason behind all that flavor in Cane’s dipping sauce. You can use about any brand of Worcestershire sauce, but so far, Lea and Perrins’s brand holds the title for making the best Cane’s dipping sauce.

3.1.4. Garlic Powder

That added garlic flavor coming from the garlic powder cannot be left out of the recipe. You can choose any brand of garlic powder, and it would all produce the same delicious sauce.

However, make sure that your garlic powder is fresh and hasn’t been sitting on the shelf for too long, as it tends to lose its zest with time.

3.1.5. Black Pepper

In black pepper, coarse ground black pepper gives the best results as it imparts bold flavor, which we need in the dipping sauce.

Well, there is nothing wrong with freshly cracked black pepper as well. You might have to add extra to get that pepperiness you need.

Any brand of black pepper works well, but if it is freshly ground black pepper, it is the best.

3.1.6. Salt

You can use just about any salt in this copycat of Cane’s sauce recipe, and it would still be amazing. You can also use celery salt or kosher salt, which gives a more potent punch than regular table salt.

When it comes to the amount of salt, a pinch or two works well enough, but you can add it per taste, depending on the quantity of the sauce.

3.1.7. Additional Ingredients
Some recipes also use Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning, which isn’t really in the recipe, but it can add some additional flavors to the sauce that can take it to another level.

So, if you’re up for it, then do give it a try because it’s all about experimenting to come as close to the original recipe of the Raising Cane’s sauce.

Some recipes also add hot sauce to give it some extra spice. So, if you’re a fan of spice, you’re going to love that extra fire from the hot sauce.

You will also come across some recipes with lemon juice in it. It adds a vibrant, tangy flavor to the sauce, which is welcoming.

4. Steps

If you thought that the steps were complicated, this should come as good news to you as it simply cannot get any easier.

  1. Gather all the ingredients as required and combine them in a small bowl. Mix them thoroughly until they are well combined.
  2. This is probably the hardest part of the recipe: store the sauce in an airtight container and keep it in the fridge for 6 hours.

Did we say 6 hours? Yes, 6 hours, and that’s a minimum. It is essential to leave the sauce aside for a reasonable time so that the ingredients mix well and flavors are correctly set.

5. How to Store Cane’s Sauce

Let us look at how to store it properly. A good 24 hours is the perfect amount of time for rest, but 6 hours will also be good. If you plan to consume it in the morning, you can prepare it at night and let it sit overnight.

If you taste the sauce immediately, it will not taste anything like the original Raising Cane sauce. Even an hour isn’t enough for the flavors to set.

So, give it the amount of time needed because it is worth the wait.

You can also store the sauce in a mason jar and keep it in the fridge if you don’t have an airtight container.

The shelf life of this addicting dipping sauce is 2 weeks if you have made it using store-bought ingredients. However, if you use homemade versions of the ingredients, try to use them within a week because store-bought ingredients tend to have a longer shelf life than homemade ones.

Also, do remember to take out portions of the sauce in a different bowl for serving instead of dipping the chicken tenders or food in the storage container if it is to be stored for a longer time as it will allow bacteria into the container and reduce the shelf life.

6. Final Note

Although Raising Cane’s is not selling its sauce in the market, you can buy it in large amounts from the restaurant itself. But, if unfortunately, there are no Raising Cane restaurants in your area, or if traveling to the restaurant isn’t feasible, then this copycat recipe could be your saving grace.

Apart from chicken tenders, you can also use the sauce for fries, burgers, or any other food item, as this sauce can elevate the taste of almost anything. The sauce truly lives up to its name for being the most craveable sauce!
