Are you someone looking forward to spending your weekend in a place where life is celebrated? Austin in Texas is where fun and celebration are part of everyday life.

There were days when people used to talk about music whenever the name Austin came up. But today, things have changed. It’s no longer only about music; there’s much more to it.

Austin Tx is a great place to visit over the holidays or weekends since it has fantastic ballet, world-class restaurants & museums, one-of-a-kind shopping, and lovely outdoor sites.

The streets of Austin, TX are flooded with local events happening, especially on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Here are some things to do in Austin this weekend: booster shots and free beer to a Jurassic stroll.

1. Palmer Events Center

The Palmer Events Venue is a 131,000-square-foot multi-use event center near Town Lake in downtown Austin that has won numerous awards.

With its asymmetrical shade roof stretching beyond the outside walls and providing a spacious wrap-around terrace, the lively new Center evokes a “Pavilion in the Park.” It is placed in a natural park environment.

Some of the greatest views of the Austin skyline and Town Lake may be found from second-story balconies. Two exhibition halls, spacious lobbies, conference rooms, pre-function space, and comprehensive support areas can be found at the PEC.

Consumer fairs, trade exhibits, conferences, receptions, banquets, concerts, society balls, dances, and sporting activities are all held at the venue.

2. Austin Convention Center

The Austin Convention Center sits in the heart of Texas’ capital. Between the beaches of Town Lake and historic Sixth Street, the conference center is in a convenient downtown location. It is close to 5,500 hotel rooms downtown and offers convenient access to the I-35.

Trinity and Cesar Chavez St have handicapped parking with direct access to the Center. The convention center’s popularity partly stems from its closeness to numerous hotels and major attractions, including four entertainment areas.

3. Jurassic Excursion

Oh, the T-Rex, the Velociraptor, and the Stegosaurus! The Austin Convention Center’s Dino & Dragon Stroll offers the country’s largest life-size Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous models, complete with moving heads and roaring roars.

The best part is that this workshop offers sensory changes that all attendees will enjoy. The party starts at 8:30 a.m., and tickets can be purchased online.

4. Outdoor Yoga and Mimosas

If you are not a light and glamour fan, join in for a unique and enjoyable yoga experience!

This beginner-friendly event will take place under the shade of a majestic old-growth tree. Guests will get two complimentary mimosas after a one-hour yoga class. It will be practiced outside until and unless rain disrupts the event.

5. The Continental Club

The well-worn, slightly gritty music venue’s red front doors and solid black facade set the tone.

However, the surroundings are in keeping with the venue’s illustrious history since it is known for launching the careers of musicians from different genres, including Stevie Ray Vaughan (blues, jazz, rock, country).

Everyone is here for the nightly live music and craft beers as part of a night of club on the lively South Congress Avenue, or ‘SoCo’ (‘First Thursdays’ are especially big, when the entire street transforms into a massive block party, with late openings, special offers, and live music).

6. Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is a botanical garden and arboretum featuring over 800 varieties of native Texas plants in a variety of settings.

It is located 10 miles (16 kilometers) southwest of downtown in Circle C Ranch. Roy G. Guerrero Park, located on the East Riverfront along the Colorado River, has miles of wooded walks, a riverside sandy beach, and a disc golf course.

7. The Long Center for the Performing Arts

Austin boasts a vibrant theatre scene with dozens of mobile and local companies creating a wide range of work. The Long Center for the Performing Arts, The Palmer Auditorium, and an off-leash dog park on the water can all be found in Auditorium Shores, an urban park along the lake.

The Long Center for the Performing Arts is a 2,300-seat theatre constructed in part with elements from the former Lester E. Palmer Auditorium. On Saturday nights, catch some of the best Bollywood Fusion dancers in the nation shaking their stuff at the Jhalak Dance Competition.

8. Rainey Street

Rainey Street appears to be a tranquil residential avenue with quiet wooden verandas and picket fences during the day, but it comes alive at night. The craftsman-style bungalow residences, many of which date from the late 1800s, have been converted into a line of hipster-friendly pubs and eateries.

Food trucks are hidden in well-known nightlife establishments such as Half Step, Geraldine’s, Craft Pride, Clive Bar, Emmer & Rye, and Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden. It’s a place to relax with family, kids, or pets.

9. Visit North Austin, TX

North Austin has a diverse range of multicultural restaurants, kid-friendly activities, natural hiking trails, and high-end shopping just north of downtown.

9.1 Restaurants

North Austin is a popular destination for families and groups searching for larger restaurants, more parking, and diverse dining alternatives.

The bacon-and-blue pizza with truffles at Second Bar + Kitchen is a top pick. Hat Creek Burger Company or New Fortune Chinese are great places to take the kids and dogs.

9.2 Nightlife

The Free Week Bowie + Elvis Birthday Celebration at Hotel Vegas is jam-packed with musical tributes and five nuptials officiated by an Elvis impersonator.

Members of diverse bands such as Buffalo Hunt, Hooka Hey, and Modern Medicine will do Bowie’s vocal tributes, while The Bruce Smith Band will handle Elvis’s. On Sunday and Monday, Baretto provides half-price bottles of wine.

9.3 Celebrate date night at Hotel Vegas

The Tiniest Dog Party in Texas: Pawlentines Edition is held at Hotel Vegas. Treat your pup to tarot reading for dogs and pose for glossy photos in a themed photo booth. Only canines weighing less than 15 pounds are permitted.

9.4 Comedy Show

Austin is home to some of the country’s best comedy clubs. For big-name headliners like Vanessa Gonzalez and Bellamy, go to the Capital City Comedy Club or the Velveeta Room for up-and-comers.

The Hideout Theatre has sharp-witted actors who effortlessly spin spontaneous gags and plotlines.

10. Lady Bird Lake

Throughout the year, visitors flock to Lady Bird Lake to kayak and paddleboard on the Colorado River. Kayaks and paddleboards are available for rent from several firms, including Rowing Dock and Texas Rowing Center, and the area is dog-friendly.

While you’re out and about, discover birds, fish, and other wildlife, the lake’s tree-lined shoreline, and spectacular waterfront mansions. As they fly out to hunt, 1.5 million of them may be seen flying overhead.

Conclusion

Austin is mostly driven by the footfall of many tourists throughout the year. So. it is quite necessary to gather the latest updates beforehand or contact each establishment directly for more info.

Another way of getting all the news without hassle is by signing up to their official website. Follow along to support local businesses, artists, and events while learning more about them.
