The twin lakes are gifted with some breathtakingly beautiful views throughout the year.

In summer, there are tourists from all across the nation come here for hiking or mountain trekking.

And in winter, the view of frozen glacial lakes reflecting the snow-covered peaks is something to relish and reminisce about.

Away from the pomp and fervor of the metropolis, in the heart of Twin Lakes is a beautiful historic village with an old general store, a blacksmith’s shop- which is not something you get to see every day, a hotel, and an old schoolhouse belonging to the times when this place was a popular mining site.

The place also celebrates being included in the National Historic Register.

3. Where to Start?

The starting point for touring this town should be the famous Red Rooster Visitor Center.

Here, you can stop interacting with the friendly locals who can better understand the place and help you plan out your day.

Then take a tour of the entire Twin Lakes until you reach the Colorado trail, south of the Lakes, on foot.

An old resort called the Interlaken, on the opposite side of the lake, is accessible by boat. Once, it used to be a popular site in the town for summer vacations.

Some ancient buildings of the resort are still open for visitors who are inclined to know this beautiful place’s history.

Twin Lakes Colorado is a popular stop for those heading to Aspen via Independence Pass, a narrow mountain pass at an elevation of 3,687 m.

Gazing out your windows, you can look at Mount Champion, Geissler Mountain, Twining Peak, Grizzly Peak, and Casco Peak which appear as if hovering at a distance.
