As the name indicates, G7 is an informal group of 7 countries that include Canada, the USA, France, Italy, Germany, the UK, and Japan.
The countries are constituted to work on comprehensive policies, economic policies, and other international matters.
Well, Russia used to be a member country of the G7 group. However, after Russia annexed Crimea, its membership was terminated, so from G8 now it’s G7.the
In a recent tweet, President Joe Biden tweeted that G7 is more united than ever. However, there’s no question about the unity of G7, but the question arises of its relevance and effectiveness in tackling the problems it was meant to tackle.
1. G7 and Problems
If it’s a question about unity, then in 2019, the G7 meeting hosted by France became a dwarf in front of unity. France, while saving the environment, ended with the USA backing away from the Paris Climate Accord on the agenda.
So yes, there’s certainly more unity among this group of the wealthiest and most advanced economies. But solving actual problems is not on their list.
2. G7 Under Joe Biden Administration
When US leadership came into the hands of President Joe Biden, he pledged to work with G7 countries.
He pledged to solve the issues of trade, global climate change, and Russia-China cooperation in solving these issues.
But all these are just words, not actions. When it comes to action, the hypocrisy of G7 countries was seen during Covid 19.
G7 countries had all the nationalisms, but for vaccines, no care about the poor countries when they cannot afford to vaccinate their people.
3. 49th G7 Meet In Hiroshima, Japan
In this G7 summit in Japan, President Joe Biden has announced plans to supply fighter aircraft, including F-16.
Well, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is also attending this G7 summit in person. So announcing this much help to Ukraine is a must to do for President Joe Biden.
With this announcement of sending F-16 fighter planes to Ukraine, the Biden administration opened the door for other countries to export their F-16 fighter aircraft to Ukraine.
From providing fighter aircraft to training Ukrainian pilots to fly these F-16S, the Biden administration will do all to support Ukraine against Russia.

And it’s not just the USA, but its allies are also willing to support Ukraine by every means.
The United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that the UK will provide combat air training and capability to Ukrainian forces as well as establish a school to train Ukrainian pilots
Meanwhile, some allies are concerned about the matter of sending F16 fighter aircraft to Ukraine because it will worsen the situation and could also result in direct war with Russia.
The unified G7 is trying hard to put pressure on Russia with some new sanctions and also tightening the already existing sanctions. G7 is making sure that no loopholes or ambiguity can benefit the Russian economy.
